MyCloud Remote Access via Drive and no VPN

If you cannot access the router to configure and route ports (or even enable UPnP for other services) then you probably won’t be able to do SSH either as it would typically require opening ports in the router’s firewall to pass the traffic from the internet to the My Cloud.

Prior to WD revamping the WD2Go.com site and renaming it to MyCloud.com, one could map the My Cloud remotely. unfortunately this is no longer the case. Feel free to drop a complaint about this feature reduction in the following thread: https://community.wd.com/t/re-enable-remote-drive-mapping-through-mycloud-com/134944/2

If you could; open up ports, enable VPN pass through, or enable UPnP on the gateway/router it would be a somewhat simple task of creating an VPN tunnel to map the My Cloud using VPN client/server software like that from OpenVPN. See the following link for more information on OpenVPN: https://openvpn.net/

If you haven’t done so already it is advisable to work with your company’s IT department or IT person to see what they can do. In some companies/businesses, configuring a VPN for remote access may violate their IT or company/business computer/network policy.
