I just across a very annoying problem, my “Cloud Access - Service” will keep switched back to ON by itself?!
I bought an EX2 MyCloud drive this week, connected, explored MyCloud over the APP but then decided to switch it OFF from the Settings on the drive itself, as I don’t like to expose my data over the internet without a proper VPN in place.
Later on, I decided to test this, so I used MyCloud app and done the following steps:
- From WIFI-ONLY network, I can see my data, so far so good
- From a 3G network, I can’t access and the APP would give an error saying it’s disabled,… exactly what I want.
- From the APP, removed the drive.
- Connected to my WIFI router,
Here is the extremely annoying bit:
- Added the drive again on MyCloud
- It asked me how to access? I said “WIFI only”
- For some reason, I can now access everything with or without VPN
- Logged in to my WD panel, and shocked to see the “Cloud Access - Service” was switched back into ON by itself.
This is a security risk, or a bug. Either way, I can’t trust the drive with my Data.
If I want to switch it OFF, I want it to “Remain OFF” why on earth is it switching itself back ON again?!!?
Has anyone experienced this issue before?
If this is a bug and WD can’t fix it then I think it’s best to refund the drive asap, as this is unacceptable.
Would appreciate if anyone could let me know.
