Why can´t music-files not be played directly within the web access portal like they can in the MyCloud mobile app?

Probably because the "the web access portal " (are you referring to the Dashboard?) is used for configuring the My Cloud devices, not for playing media. Also, another reason is because it is so easy to play stuff on either a PC and Mac from File Explorer or Finder via lots of programs on the computers…
I was talking about the Web Acess via www.mycloud.com (not the Dashboard). The intention was to play my music files from any remote computer without to have to download them.
