MyCloud - Are the backups transferred locally or via internet

Hi,

I’m using a WD MyCloudEX2Ultra and tried the backup solution for iOS photos. The myCloud App is configured to only backup data when connected via Wifi.
Since we have a data limited internet connection I’d like to know if the data is transferred via local Wifi (when connected to my own Wifi) or if it is always transferred via internet, even when the NAS is in the same Wifi as the phone.

The option to sync only if in a certain Wifi is not possible I guess, at least I didn’f find out how to do.

Hi Sascha,
Most likely the data stays within your network and does not travel to the internet and back. This is when your iOS device is connected directly to this network.
If you enable internet access then it will also be possible to make backups to your WD-device, e.g. when you are travelling or on holiday. If you do this, then this will be part of your internet access bundle.
If you do not configure the internet access, then you have configured the ‘only backup from home WiFi’ option.
