MyBookLive - Interface Error - Cannot use home screen to access funtions - User Interface Errors

  • System:   Dell M6500
  • MEM:   8 Gig total
  • OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit - Service Pack 1
  • Browser : IE 8  - Build 80760117514 - used in compat and non-compat mode
  • Video Card: Quadro FX 2800
  • Security:   McCafe Security Center - used with firewall on and off

Issue:  When typing in http://mybooklive in the browser I am brought to the mybooklive user interface. With WD Logo MY Book LIve and the following menu choices top to bottom Settings, User, Shares, Backups, Support - then a black box with “Let us help you”

At this poit in lower left hand corner I see a triangle with a yellow exclimation point and the word “Done” next to it.  Clicking on this I get the following error message:

Now if I click on any menu choice nothing happens bu the menu shifts left on the screen, yet the black “Let us help you box” keeps rotating it’s promo messages. A “Left Mouse Click” does not allow you access to any functions.

If you “SHIFT” and "Left Mouse Click: another browser window opens but the screen is distorted and again none of the functionality is there in any buttons.

After the main screen has shifted left, now you get the following error:

MODALITY TO DATE:

I have had no luck taking IE in or out of compat mode

Turning off all protection on the PC.

Updating all my drivers

Deleteing all cookies

Note:  MyBookLive: is active on my network,  I can access it fine.  Transfer speeds are a bit slow.

I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how I can fix this interface issue.  There are many functions and setups I’d like to use but the lack of ability to utlize the interface has prevented me.

Thank you very much.  Tony in NY, NY - USA

Weird.

Try using a different browser such as CHROME or FIREFOX.

Hi, TonyPh12345

I just downloaded Chrome and it works.

However, I need to use IE8.

Would you know the setting in IE8 that one might work with to get rid of the errors I posted?

Thank you for your “common sense” “smart” and “quick work around”

Thank you

very much.

Why do you need to use IE8? Surely you just to need anything that works. You only need it to set up things.

I need MyBookLive to work with Internet Explorer for security reasons.   It was advertised as Microsoft ready.

did you try to compatibility view button?

I found the solution.

I removed Divx from my system and everything works now.

What a pain to find out but that’s it.   Romove it all.
