I tried to restart the samba server, but ran out of passwords while trying to access the drive.

I took wdlive76’s advice and ran the Debrick protocol as outlined here: [GUIDE] How to unbrick a totally dead MBL.

My drive is now accessible, but the flashing green light continued for about 10 minutes; now it is flashing red. Looks like more reading for me.
