I have a MyBook World WD1000G32-001 (S/N [Deleted]) and want to add an external additional hard drive. I have 4TB drive and have tried formatting the disk in different ways (NTFS, exFAT) but can’t get the SAN to see it when I plug it in. I expect to see it in Shared Storage Manager in the System Summary but nothing shows up. The firmware is the latest (02.00.15). On the Drive Management tab the only item is “Safely remove USB Drive”. The external drive is getting power as its power indicator is lit.
Any ideas as to how I can make it work?

The My Book should automatically detect the external USB drive and the information should be displayed under System Summary in the Shared Storage Manager. It looks like you’re doing everything properly. This is a very old unit, therefore it is not likely to be compatible with a 4TB USB 3.0 hard drive due to generational differences in drivers, manufacturing process, firmware, and drive size.
