Mybook world problems with Zonealarm

Hi there,

I bought the WD mybook word edition 1TB about a month ago.

about a week ago, i think zone alarm did an update and now i basically can see the drives through windows explorer, but when i select either the public or download drives, the drive is inaccesible and i get the following error “configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable or access is denied”

I am pretty certain that it is an issue with zonealarm, because i can access the drives if i turn zonealarm off.

obviously this isn’t an ideal solution. i have added the ip range behind the home router as being trsuted but this doesn’t seem to help.

I’m sure there is a simple solution to this, but i can’t seem to figure it out.

Any help appreciated!

Did you mount the Drive or access it directly?

So, do u have done the following via the CMD Window?

net use x: \ip_of_your_nas\name_of_shared_folder

My suggestion is - get rid of Zone Alarm. I am a former ZA PRo user but I gave up. Too many crashes, too many slow downs, too much trouble. I stopped using ZA Pro and all my problems went away.

I’ve been using the latest Norton and have had none of those kind of problems. $10 after rebates.
