Mybook studio, slow transfer rate through firewire 800 under windows 7 64bit

The transfer rate starts with 70-80 Mb/s, but drops to 5 Mb/s near the end of the transfer when the transfer also seems to freeze (this takes >10 minutes before the transfer ends). 

This happens only with the firewire. With the USB everything seems normal. 

Is this a common problem? How can I solve it?

Have you tried changing cables and ports?  Or another machine?  I’d also see if there’s an update for the drivers.  Otherwise, it seems like there’s something wrong with the drive’s port.
