MyBook not detected when connected via USB-C <-> USB-C

Till now I have 2 MyBook (16TB + 20TB) connected to my Win10-PC by USB-C → USB-A adapter. This works fine.

Now my pc has an unused USB-C port so I connected one of the MyBooks via an USB-C ↔ USB-C cable and it is NOT detected by windows (tried BOTH MyBooks, same result). I chose an USB-C 3.2 Gen cable.

To eliminate I have a problem with my (PCs) USB-C port or the cable I connected another USB-C device (Samsung Smartphone) to the PC and it was detected and works (can transfer data to PC and othe way round).

So

  • the HDD seems to work
  • the HDDs USB-C part seems to work
  • the PCs USB-C part seems to work
  • the USB-C cable seems to work.
    … but none of my 2 MyBooks gets an “direct” USB-C connection.

What can I do or what could be the reason?
