MyBook Essential won't power down

Hi

I have a MyBook Essential 1T connected to a laptop running Vista. This morning, as I was unplugging another USB device, the USB cable for the drive came loose and  the laptop made a sound like the drive was disconnected. I replugged and the drive won’t mount.

I tried rebooting unsuccesfully. I tried plugging it into another computer to no avail. While I was doing that I realized the drive was still on when unplugged from my computer. How should I proceed in order to power down the drive so that it can be plugged safely into my computer and mount properly?

Press the power button on the back of the drive. As long as your laptop is off then you should not have an issue.

It may just need a reset.
