MyBook drive is now ReadOnly

My MyBook drive has suddenly become “readyonly”. Can access the data, but cannot create new files or delete any files. This is the 2nd drive that has done this. Am running Windows 7. Went to command prompt and ran “diskpart” to clear the readonly attribute but this did not work. Does anyone know how this happened and what else I can do to correct it short of copying all the data from the drive and reformatting it. It is formatted exFAT (the way it came).

Hi GBuquoi,

You can reformat My Book in NTFS file format if want to use it on Windows OS only. You may follow the steps provided in below article to reformat My Book in NTFS file format.

Note: This process is a Data Destructive and cannot be undone. Once the process begins, all the data on the drive will be lost.
