My WD My Book will not connect to my TV

All 6 of my WD Elements connect fine and are NTFS but after formatting my external MY BOOK, it just says has an error or something “after disconnecting…reconnect” or something like that

My TV does use NTFS just fine and I have NEVER had an issue like this

What is the drive of your WD Elements and the drive size of your My Book? Could it because of the drive size limit of what your TV can support? Can you snapshoot the picture of the TV screen with the error when you connect My Book to the TV?

No, I have a 20 TB Elements that works fine, as well as a couple 8 TB

It is a " My Book " issue

WD website does not say their WD My Book is support on a TV. They only state Windows and Mac. They state it might be compatible with other devices " * Compatibility may vary depending on user’s hardware configuration and operating system." If the product is still under warranty. You could try to get a replacement to see if the problem is just that device and it is not My Book.

@ palepatriot, how many drive letters do you see when you connect the My Book to your PC? Do you see a VCD? If so, then that may be what is confusing the TV.

It was REALLY Acting up when connected to PC, freezing, crashing Windows, etc

I just formatted the drive to “EXfat” and now it is working fine on PC

I guess I will just use the drive for back up and not use it on TV. Wish I knew the issue I had though…

VCD should not pop up when the drive is in unlock state. What I know when using I lock with a password then the VCD drive will be available with software to unlock the drive. Once the password is removed then the VCD drive should be disappear or not available. From my experience with WD external drive.
