My wd elements port. drive

I have left the usb lead permamently fitted to my usb 3 port and the light has been flashing all the time for the past three months since purchase.
Today wd elements will not work at a usb 3 port only at a usb2. (the wd elements will not show as E drive at my computer only if plugged into usb2 port)
Windows 7pro PC
Have I burnt out the 3 port or is there a solution please.

Hello,

Having the drive plugged in all the time should not be a problem.

I recommend you make sure you have the latest 3.0 drives installed on your computer. Also, if possible try replacing the USB 3.0 cable.
