What is happening when a power supply cord is flashing red and won’t power up your device?
Your power supply has LIGHTS on it? My guess is you’re using the wrong one. I’ve never heard of WD’s My Book Live power supplies having lights on them at all.

I have had this connected with this power cord for very long and it has been working with it. Is it possible that I hurt my device with this?
It depends on how much voltage the adapter was putting out. The My Book Live Duo requires an adapter that puts out 12 Volts and 3 Amps. What are you using?
The out was 12 volts and not sure what this means, 2000mA
It means 2 amps. You may not have enough power to drive the device. The specified adapter puts out 12 volts and 3 amps. You should have received an adapter with that output rating. Do you have it? If so, then that should work.
