Have a My Passport Ultra (USB3), 1TB that is continually conneced (via the USB3 port) to my Dell Inspiron (64 bit) desktop. When I boot-up (with Win 7) get the Win msg that the device can run faster.
Do I need a new driver? Is there a ‘hardware’ problem (Device Manager recognizes a USB3 connection) that I can bypass?
Can ‘write to’ and ‘read from’ Passport (though sometimes there is a delay in the ‘write to’).
Yes - at least the Properties seem to allow it … under WD Driver Management devices the WD SES device Properties allows it … and the USB 3 extensible Host Controller and USB 3 Root Hub does also.
But is there a specific driver to use? Or just do a search ?
Rebooted but still got msg that Mass Storage device could run faster if connected to USB 3 port. Passport USB connector (blue which should be USB 3) is plugged into USB 3 port (the blue one)… so either: 1. Win7 is messed up - or - 2. Dell Inspiron ‘CPU’ has hardware problem - or - 3 WD Ultra My Passport is wrong.
Hi, you can connect the passport to another computer with USB 3.0. You can connect another USB 3.0 device into the port. But it is unlikely that the OS is corrupter is the drivers are updated, should be the hardware.
