With password protection turned on, will that slow down the performance of editing files in real-time directly off the external hard drive (My Passport Ultra)?
Previous software-based encrypted drives have handicapped the performance of my computer and I am looking for a simple alternative to password protect my files that allows me to do my job efficiently and does not slow me down.

The password protection of the drive will lock the unit, but this should not affect the performance of the drive if it is password protected or not.
