My Passport Smartware & Quick view not working

I have a 1TB WD My Passport. I tried to connect it to my laptop but it doesn’t show up. On clicking on smartware or quick view nothing happens. Maybe I need to update the software. How do I do it?

Try a different USB cable or port, also try to connect the drive to another computer to see if the drive shows up.
