My Passport mounted drive disappeared

My Passport 2T has worked flawlessly but suddenly disappeared. The drive shows up correctly as a CD, the unlocker software says the drive is unlocked, but the mounted drive doesn’t show up. If I try to find it in"disk manager", “disk manager” freezes, so I can’t see anything. In “device manager” I see the “WD SES Device USB Device”.If I disconnect the device, “disk manager” works fine.

I have an identical seciond “My Passport” which works fine. Has the first drive failed somehow? If so, can I recover the data somehow? Thanks in advance.

I recommend you try another USB cable and if possible another computer. If the issue remains then it means the partition is corrupted or the drive has failed. 

It may be possible to still extract the data utilizing data recovery software. There are several kinds of Data Recovery software available. If you do a web search for Data Recovery it will yield plenty of data recovery software options.
