Hi everyone! I just purchased a 1tb my passport on wednesday, and since I’ve been using it, for some reason it will disappear from my desktop and power down after 5 minutes or so. I tried disabling the option of putting hard drives to sleep in system preferences but that doesn’t seem to work. I have formatted and updated the software for mac so I’m really curious as to why it keeps going offline like that. Thanks for any help!
Check the USB cable? Does this issue happens in another computer?
I never checked it on another computer, but I did uninstall the WD smartware and ensured the usb was pushed in as much as possible on both ends. Seemed to do the trick. But I will try it on another computer and double check. So far so good, though. Although, it makes me wonder why the software, if that is the reason, would cause that problem
