Purchased brand new Western Digital (WD) “My Passport for Mac” 5TB drive and want to add it as an External Storage to the USB 3.0 port of my Linksys WRT1900ac router. However, the router does NOT recognize the added drive. Anybody have a solution? NOTE: I’m using the cable provided by WD and it works if I directly connect the drive to my MacBook Pro. AND, I know that the USB 3.0 port on the router also works. Clueless how to proceed.
Seems to be a problem with the Linksys WRT1900AC routers not liking 5TB hard drives (apparently older models have no problems).
Best to reach out to Linksys support.
