"My Passport" Ext. HD as any other storage disk

I have an enormous digital ebook library (approx. 15 GB stored in the Caliber Library program), and a few thousand digital photos stored on my (older) computer, taking up a lot of space.  I bought the external drive (Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1TB USB 3.0/2.0 Ultra portable external Hard drive) to store them on, to free up space on my int. drive.  I am having trouble figuring out how to get it done.  I confess to being “ext. drive” illiterate…

Can I just save the library and photo files to the ext. drive, and then ‘plug & play’ on another computer?  If so, how?

In my computer’s 'My Computer" file management program, the Passport drive shows up as :  “WD Unlocker (F)”

I had hoped to see something like “My Passport (F)”…

Any advice?

First do not trust important data to just one drive no matter who makes it internal or external. One copy is not a backup. If you need to free up space make sure you have 2 copies. The forums are full of posts from people who did what you want to do then had a problem.
