My Passport Essential Won't Format

Hi,

I’m running a passport hard drive on a windows 7 OS and suddenly it won’t work.

I’ve reloaded the latest firmware and WD smartware, checked drivers etc and all is OK.

When I try access the drive I get  a message asking me to format the drive but when I try I get an error message saying unable to format.

I would run the data lifegaurd on the drive

Did you delete the partition first?  If no that can sometimes cause errors check this http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3865
