I needed a Back-up drive to use as a large Flash drive to hold files and move Files in and out of.  The sold me this and Said if I don’t install the Software I can stop the Continues Back-up which I don’t want.

Did I get sold the wrong thing? If not how do I install it so it doesn’t  Backup

You got the correct device, just connect the unit and do not install WD Smartware.  That way you will be able to use your drive as a regular flash drive.

Also don’t mess with the firmware update unless you have issues with the drive.
