My Passport Essential is crashing computer

When I plug in the device, the password screen pops up, but before I can enter my password, the computer crashes leaving a blue screen with "Problem detected . . . shut down to prevent damage to computer . . . "  Should I call tech support?

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
