My passport essential-How to format the drive for PC and Mac

I would like to be able to format the drive so it could work on PC or Mac.  How can I do this?

I read the manual but it didn’t really help me.

Well there some different things to try. One is format the drive FAT32 and both will be able to use it. The down side is the largest file you can have is 4 gig. This should help  http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3865
  The other thing is format the drive NTFS for Windows and download and install this  http://mac-free.com/download/NTFS-3G.html on the Mac then both drives should be able to use the drive. Just test it out with some small files before you fill the drive.
