My Passport Essential HD is not being recognized by Win 2003 SP2

Windows 2003 SP2 is not recognized my WD My passport .

Microsoft fix also didn’t help me to resolve this issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314634

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Is it a supported OS for the drive? Most of the new drives only support XP, Vista and Windows 7.

I’m fairly sure I’ve seen Bill or one of the other WD folks say that the desktop externals can only be used with the desktop operating systems.

_ None _ of the server versions of Windows are supported.

Like you say, the specs list the supported operating systems.
