Problem description:
I installed My Passport Essential 500GB (USB) with Smartware installed locks up my Lenova IBM TS60 laptop just after software installed. Running Win XP Professional - Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
Recovery action: Laptop requires powercycle to clear, then after boot, moving mouse at any time after bootup will lock up laptop again.
Workaround: Only use keyboard to go to control panel add remove software and remove WD Smartware software.
General concern:
Would prefer to use this drive as external backup using standard explorer interface from Windows. Would like to have more control and not use WD Smartware as primary interface for this product.
Is there any alternative to WD Smartware ?
