My Passport drive prevents Mac Startup

When my My Passport external drive is plugged into my Mac, the mac won’t boot up. I have to unplug the drive and then plug it in again once my mac has started up. It works fine once it’s mounted. Is there a fix for this?

Sounds like the Mac is trying to boot from the drive.

Thanks for the reply ERmorel. I think you may be right. As soon as I unplug it the Mac starts up. Ironically this morning it didn’t do it for the first time, a bit like going to the doctors and your ailment vanishes.

Thanks and if it occurs again I’ll work through the fix.
