My Passport Drive letter not assigned using USBC 3.1

I have a My Passport 2TB which worked fine using old Win10 laptop. I upgraded my laptop and am now using a USB Hub to connect my devices to this laptop. The laptop’s USBC 3.0 port is able to find My Passport and assign a Drive letter to the device. However, I need to use the USBC 3.1 port because of its charging feature when docked and this particular port does not assign a Drive letter when plugged in. The device shows up in Disk Manager as healthy, but also shows up as GPT Protective Partition. I have transferred all the files off the device and reformatted the drive in order to remove this feature and now that Drives shows up in Disk manager. I believe I need to create partitions next but clueless if it should be a NTFS partition or MBR partition.

Thanks Joe

Hi @joetiii

Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

Yes I have a support case open and was instructed to refirmat the drive then everything would work orooerly.

After that, I no longer can transfer files to the Passport through the usb hub. Only when directly connected to laptop can i use the drive.

I am moving backwards.
