My Passport disconnects frequently - like timing out?

I have a 500G My Passport and a new Macbook Pro. When I connect my external drive, it only stays connected as long as the computer is in active use. If I walk away for 5 minutes, it disconnects and I have to unplug/replug it, enter my password again, etc. It’s incredibly frustrating. Can I do anything about this?

Since there’s been no replies, maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
