My Passport 3 TB drive being used up more than what is backed up

I have a 3 TB My Passport USB drive. I’m using WD Backup. I am only backing up a 3 TB External USB Raid drive–I set everything that way in the WD Backup. For the Raid drive: 2.06 TB free of 2.72 TB. For the Passport Drive that it is backing up: 0.98 TB free of 2.72 TB. I looked in the backup and don’t see anything extra…why is there such a discrepancy???
