My new hard drive can not be read on windows

Hi, i just bought new black WD 1TB , i replaced it with my older 2nd 300gb hard drive but it doesn’t show up in windows also it heat when i run the PC
where can i see if it’s connected or not or maybe it s a physical problem?
can you guys help me solve this ? thanks
