Even though I am able to access email and the internet I have to sometimes disconnect and reconnect the power to the modem and the router to get the printer to work. What causes this?
It could be a compatibility issue between the router and/or the WD Print Share application with your particular printer, or it could be an early sign of router degradation. On either case, the best option would to test if the same issue happens with a different printer.
I had the same issue with a different printer. I am using an Epson XP-430. My router is probably about 4 years old. Not sure what kind of life to expect from it. It just seems odd that there are no issues with email or internet. Thanks for your insight. Perhaps I should consider purchasing another router.
Maybe wireless reception is weak at printer if that is how you are using it. If so, be sure printer is connected to 2.4G signal for better range.
