My My Book is not keeping any of the files put on it

My My Book Essential is not keeping any of the files uploaded onto it.  I will backup my stuff, and then when I check on it a few days later, nothing is on it.  It has to backup everything onto it again.   I do properly disconnect it every time

Even though it isn’t showing files is it using space? Try enabling show hidden files.

It will show it not using any space.
