My "my book essentials appears not to be backing up mail

In “backup” all boxes are checked including “mail” but in “backup” view it shows no mail backed up.

How do I find out if mail is being backed up?

Or,how do I fix this?

Try uninstalling the WD Smartware and reinstalling its latest version.

I am using Windowa 8.1 not 8 is there another link or will work with 8.1 or will the update for 8 work for me.
