My Hub does not see my Network

For two months, I have used my hub perfectly  copying filed from my pc. All of the sudden, the hub connects to the Internet trhough my wireless router, but does not see my computer nor any other from my network. I have recently updated my IE to version 9… Please help

See if this tutorial for troubleshooting helps:

Tks Tony, but I´m afraid it did not help much. The thing is that the wdtvlivehube does not see my computer and vice versa. when I type at the cmd " nbtstat -a wdtvlivehub" I get the following reply: “Host not found”. Funny thing is that this was not so until I updated my IE browser to version 9. Do you think that it has something to do with that?

tks for the assistance,

Mario

Dont suppose you could uninstall IE9 to find out…

I doubt a browser would do that, but anythings possible I suppose.

Or try a system restore…sounds like a lot of hastle really, but might be able to find the problem then.

HOST NOT FOUND means that your computer is not able to resolve the hostname “WDTVLIVEHUB” to its IP address.

It is very likely that the reason for that is also affecting the HUB’s ability to find the IP address of your PC.

You need to make sure NetBIOS Name Services are properly running on your PC.

How do I find out how NET Bios Services are OK? I am an average user…

Depends on your Operating System.

windows 7

Well I would try

Restart Router

Restart WDTVHub and reset it back to Factory

Restart PC

At least it gives you a good starting place.

post the complete output of the command

ipconfig /all

Tim,

I am sorry, everything is in Portuguese, but with some effort, You´ll be able to understand the words. Please let me know if I will receive any reply to my last post.

I appreciate your valuable assistance and look forward to hear from you.

Mario

The only thing I notice is that your DNS servers are all FOREIGN.  (They are not on your network.)

They are not going to be able to resolve the name WDTVLIVEHUB to your own network.

Check to see if your ROUTER can act as a DNS proxy.

If it can, then change your DNS address to 192.168.1.1   and make sure your router has a DNS entry for the WDTVLIVEHUB.

How do I check to see if my router can act as a DNS proxy?

If yes, How do I make a DNS entry for WDTVLIVEHUB?

Tks. again.

Mario

The manual for your router should discuss that.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the assistance. Following a previous advice, I switched my router off and on and the connection between my pc and the wdtdlive hub was re-established.

Now, the only problem that I have is to connect the wdtvlive hub with the other computers in my home network. Could you pls. inform where I can get info on that ? tks. again .
