My hard drive can not be read on windows or macOS,but the status is still connected

a few days ago when i will open the file, my harddisk can not be read on windows or macOS. but the status is still connected to the computer when viewed in Disk Utility or disk management can also be eject. when I try to re-partition the process can not run and fail, so when I do damage checks, the process always fails. my friend suggested my hard drive should be formatted, but the data will be lost when the data is very important. How to get my hard drive working again without having to delete or format my harddisk? Please help me.
