My WD Elements external hard drive hasn’t been registering on any of my devices, including different laptops and my USB compatible DVD player.
I just recently called support and, since the information on my drive are the only copies I have and I can’t reformat it, they suggested that I ask if anyone knows of a recovery program that I could download to recover my files and such.

I would check with the two biggest data recovery companies for software. Kroll Ontrack and Drive Savers.
