Hi there,

I got my first NAS this week and I noticed that the thing is making a constant “humming” noise as if the fan is spinning all the time. It’s quite audible when there is no music or movie playing in the room.

Also every few seconds it sounds like the HDD is writing something without me sending/loading anything to/from it.

Is that normal for this NAS or should I try to get an exchange?

Run a diagnostic test on the Dashboard. if it passes the test then I’d recommend moving the device to a more-open location to minimize perceivable noise.
