My cloud keeps disconecting

Hi Over the last few weeks, I have been having issues, I can see in network-storage the device, I have no drop down menu under network, so I can’t drag and drop files, have tried changing name, changing wifi hub ethernet ports, changing cables, remove and reinstall mycloud, reboot router,
running win 10, updated

It is possible you have been affected by a recent Microsoft Update to Windows 10 that deactivated SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support. This Microsoft link explains it.When SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support is turned off Windows File Explorer typically won’t show the My Cloud under Network Neighborhood or possibly under Storage.

There are a number of security vulnerabilites present in SMB1./CIFS File Sharing Support which is why Microsoft deactivated it. See this Microsoft Blog post for more information about the security vulnerabilities.

If you are willing to accept the security vulnerabilities one can turn SMB1.CIFS File Sharing Support back on in Windows 10. See following WD Knowledgebase article:

One can also still access their My Cloud by using it’s IP address or My Cloud Name in the Windows File Explorer address bar. One can still “map” a My Cloud Share to their Windows PC for easier/quick access.
