My Cloud Home Duo - is it a backup?

I’ve had My Cloud Home Duo for a while but find myself worrying that it doesn’t do what I think it does.

Being ‘duo’ does the device automatically retain a copy of the entire drive on a separate physical drive and if so how would I access the ‘backup’ if I was to have a drive failure?
