I have a failed My Cloud Home NAS. The Network Controller board has failed. The data is on a 6tb WD Red drive. All my files are ex2. If I purchase a Western Digital WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra 2-Bay 8TB can I simply swap out one of the drives for the one I have removed from the My Cloud Home and access my files? This is the older My Cloud with the Blue LED

From your information you do not own a My Cloud Home.
Unless you just want to buy a My Cloud EX2 why don’t you just buy a docking station and see if you can recover your files that way.

Have already bought one but the software I am using is not too great at recovering the files. Diskinternals Reader. The NAS that failed is this one.

Have you tried to view what is on the drive with the Linux operating system?
Yes, I can see the files but cannot transfer some of them
