My Cloud Home Auto Camera Backup Not working

I have noticed that at times the auto backup feature on the horrible My Cloud Home app is not consistently backing up my pictures. Is anyone having the same issue? If so, what do I need to do to fix this issue?

@cashdude1971 can you provide more information please?

  • iOS or Android?
  • Phone or Tablet?
  • What OS version?
  • Are you having problems with pix and vids?
  • Do you have auto-backup enabled? Cellular data? Background Uploading?
  • Is the issue local LAN? Cellular Data? Remote LAN?
  • What file format?
  • What picture format? Pano? Square? etc…
  • Are the pix taken by the phones native camera?
  • What are you looking at to determine when something isn’t backing up
  • etc…
  • iOS or Android? Android (Samsung Note 8 ver. 8.5)
    • Phone or Tablet? Phone
    • What OS version? Android 7.1.1
    • Are you having problems with pix and vids? Both
    • Do you have auto-backup enabled? Yes
    • Cellular data? Yes
    • Background Uploading? This was not said to be needed…how do I turn
      this on?
    • Is the issue local LAN? Yes
    • Cellular Data? Yes
    • Remote LAN? Yes
    • What file format? jpg, mp4
    • What picture format? 4:3, 16:9
    • Pano? No

The app and notification on phone and on the Web App (My Cloud Home)
    • etc…

BTW…I also sent over logs from the app.

  1. Ensure the name of the phone does not have a ; (semi colon) or a / (forward slash).
Auto backup does not support these characters for directory creation

  2. Click Settings - > Auto Backup

Thank you for that but with no disrespect, I already did that. If that was
the issue, I would not have had to come to this forum for answers. What I
did notice is if I log out of the app then log back in, the auto-backup
feature begins to work. I also noticed someone else on this forum mentioned
that as well. Not sure why logging on/off the app fixes the issue.

Happy to see the issue resolved.

It is NOT resolved!!! Why do I have to log in and out for auto-backup
to work? There is an issue with the app!! My Dropbox, Amazon Photos, and
Google Photo application have NO issues with auto-backup. Only the My Cloud
Home app!!!

Has anyone found a fix for this? I noticed that my camera on my mobile phone stopped backing up 2 weeks after I setup the dang thing. I read you have to clear the cache. I tried that and it worked once! has not updated since. I also noticed in the settings the Android Mobile App keeps turning the auto backup and cellular data off on its own. This is ridiculous!

If it “Could” resolve your issue, then why not give it a shot?
Perhaps there’s a corrupted file or something about the file that causes it not to be processed.
Have you contacted WD Support? Sometimes it’s helpful to send the problem file so they can test for things,

I have same issue. In Samsung S7, Samsung S9 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
Please read again. Log off and login triggers the backup in that moment. But IT WILL NOT START auto backup. Next days photos don’t backup.
Often 5 days go with photos not uoading.
As well some times it only triggers when I go into the App to the folder where I upload the photos.
Please help, auto backup does not work properly

I have the same issue. Auto backup starts but then stops mid upload. It shows that a bit was uploaded but won’t continue… Also the app always freezes… Hope they fix that because the app is absolutely not usable… Really disappointed.
