So i bought a diskless Cloud gen 1 from ebay added a drive with the firmware 3. something everything works fine except the cloud part! Yea i get it its an old firmware so i updated to the newest one and nothing works. ive done this 6 times now. some times i get on to the dashboard and it just hands for hours! (20 hours was my max test) sometimes it stuck on initializing device (40 hours plus ive tested this for)
So my question how can i
A. get the cloud part working with firmware 3.xxx
B or get it working with the new firmware 4.xxx
So far this is one of the worse bits of kit ive ever bought.

Follow the steps exactly. I’ve used those directions several times without issue on my first gen My Cloud to install a number of different sized hard drives to the enclosure.
Use a Linux livecd/boot disc if possible. Ubuntu is one popular Linux distro that can be burned to a DVD or USB flash drive to boot a PC.
