My Cloud Firmware Version 4.04.05-101 (12/13/16) Discussion

I updated firmware 2 days ago and have had problems ever since. Blue LED light never comes back on even though it says firware update successful and displays this version as the latest. Everything else works fine as far as I can tell, however when I log into mycloud.com account, it says there is no device. This is strange considering I can still access my drive via iphone when on 4G. I tried the same firware update again (manually), same result. I also reset my drive with a paperclip in the back (4 sec when powered on method). Still no blue light or mycloud.com access?

Any recommendations? I’m I going to have to do a restore back to factory defaULT SETTINGS AND START OVER?

Have you checked the dashboard to see if the leds are enabled?

Yes, of course. They have always been enabled since I’ve had the drive for 2+ years now. Checked again to make sure. Still doesn’t answer why mycloud.com cannot see my device unless it’s related to the blue light. Even so, can still access the drive on 4G with my phone…

I’ve also run the quick and full diagnostics and both passed…

If you know how to use SSH. You can login to the my cloud. CD /sys/class/leds/system_led Then you can type more color and more blink. The color file should contain the word blue and blink should contain on or off.

I am using this (idp.mycloud.com) as the host with my login credentials, but it cannot make connection as it says remote server failed to respond and then terminates…

What are you trying to access? The My Cloud Dashboard (Windows PC: http://wdmycloud or Mac: http://wdmycloud.local)? Or the MyCloud.com web portal (http://www.mycloud.com) for remote access? Not sure what “idp.mycloud.com” is used for.

After you go to www.mycloud.com for remote login and access and click sign-in, it takes you to idp.mycloud url page to enter your login credentials; my cloud is just the beginning page. Anyhow, neither allow me to SSH in as the host as per rac8006 recommended…

When I do login, says no devices are available yet as per above string, I can access my drive locally and on my iphone via 4G yet I have no blue light…

I’m confused. Why are you using MyCloud.com or even idp.mycloud.com to access the My Cloud through SSH? It is not possible to use either of those two services to access SSH on the My Cloud.

Generally one accesses the My Cloud usign SSH from their local network using an SSH program like Putty (for Windows - http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/). One must first enable SSH through the My Cloud Dashboard. Then one generally accesses the My Cloud their first time using SSH with the following logging information:
root
welc0me

I AM NOT using MyCloud.com or even idp.mycloud.com to access the My Cloud through SSH…

I HAVE AND AM USING AN SSH PROGRAM. I ALSO ENABLED SSH THRU THE DASHBOARD AND USED THE CREDENTIALS YOU REFERRENCED. STILL COMES BACK AND SAYS THE SERVER DID NOT RESPOND AND TERMINATES.

WHEN I DO LOGIN TO WEB PORTAL, SAYS NO DEVICES FOUND SO CURRENTLY MY CLOUD DOESN’T SEE MY DEVICE AND I HAVE NO LIGHTS, NOT WHITE, BLUE OR YELLOW. I CAN ACCESS MY DRIVE AND DATA FROM MULTIPLE COMPUTERS WITHIN MY WIFI NETWORK AND CAN EVEN ACCESS VIA 4G FROM IPHONE. EVERTHING ELSE ABOUT MY DRIVE AND DASHBOARD LOOKS LIKE IT IS WORKING PROPERLY EXCEPT MY CLOUD AND THE BLUE LIGHT WHICH I’M SURE IS RELATED…

ok, i was able to connect this time. The more color file says blue and the more blink says on!!

If the file says blue and blink is on. The led should be blue. You need to look at the led for a few seconds.
When the disk is sleeping the blue led will fade in and out like a slow blink. If this isn’t being done then
the led may be burnt out.

Definitely not blue or blinking. Doesn’t come on when I reboot and also did the 4 second reset and blue never came on so it could be burned out. I assume there is no reason to change out if possible?

But now more importantly, why does the web portal (mycloud account) not see my cloud device? Says no devices are available so accessing my cloud via laptop is a non-starter?? I assume this is what the account is for…

After Firmware upgrade, I notice this error message from dmesg
Anyone observed the same issue ?

Do we have any plan to enable jumbo frames support for gigabit Ethernet BCM54610 ?

We are users just like you, we are not WD Support or have anything to do with WD. That question would be best answered by contacting WD Support.
