Hi everyone,
I am having a frustrating issue with my WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra running My Cloud OS 5.
I have several third-party applications installed on the device, but they have completely stopped responding. I cannot launch them, configure them, or uninstall them from the Dashboard.
The good news is that I still have full access to my data via network shares and I can log into the My Cloud Dashboard without any issues. However, the apps are completely broken.
To fix this, I wanted to perform a “System Only Restore” (the 40-second reset) to wipe the corrupted app data without losing my files. The problem is that the 40-second hardware reset does not work as intended. Every time I hold the reset button for over 40 seconds (or even a minute) while plugging in the power cord, the NAS just boots normally and executes a simple Soft Reset (it only clears the admin password and resets network settings).
Has anyone experienced this on OS 5? Is there a known workaround to force a clean system-only wipe to get rid of these broken apps through the terminal or other means, while keeping my data safe?
Thank you in advance for your help!
