Hi All,
I just ordered a WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra NAS, for using as NAS and as a private Cloud server.

I have a Fritzbox, with an actice MyFritz connection to access from outside. (Like dyndns).
WD also predicts to use a similar service, called MyCloud.
I am wondering, which of these service I should use when installing the EX2 Ultra NAS…

Hi,
as far as I know, you don’t havbe a choice when installing the EX2. The MyCloud service is installed automatically.
Concerning the access from the outside, I think it depends on what data you want to access.
The data on the EX2 Ultra you can reach via the MyCloud service only (as far as I know) unless you use the FritzBox’s VPN. The MyFritz service will only let you access the data of the storage directly attached to the FritzBox.

For some reason, i can connect to the server from outside, although i did not activate VPN…
Why my Fritzbox ist not blocking this??
This is very strange for me

OK, clear now. There is a service that opens the ports…
