My Cloud device only visible when using WIFI

Unless I connect my laptop (running Win 8.1) to my network using Wifi, the device does not show up in the Network location. My laptop is connected to the same access point as the My Cloud storage device via CAT6 cable. Having to use WIFI creates a serious bottleneck. What I am missing here?

Do you leave your laptop connected by cable all the time? If not then when you connect it again try restarting your router and see what happens.Do you have WiFi turned off on your laptop when you are connected by cable?


Yes, my laptop is connected all the time. Turns out my laptop was not connected directly to the router, but through my Voip Omla device. Once I connected directly it worked as expected.
