I have moved my WD Easy Store from a Windows machine to an iMac. To set up My Cloud it is asking for a Device Code, my Easy Store is older and doesn’t have a device code on the bottom. Any ideas on how to make it work? Thanks for any and all help.
@GTR81 Do you own a My Cloud Home, a My Cloud, or an Easy Store? Have you checked the Knowledge Base?
WD Support See more info for all WD Devices including Easy Store.
I have a 4 TB Easy Store, that I bought many years ago for my windows machine. I recently switched to an iMac and when I plugged in the Easy Store I got messages to activate My Cloud. That’s when I was told to enter the Device Code and my old Easy Store did not have one. I assumed My Cloud was software for the Easy Store to make it web accessable. Should I just ignore the various My Cloud prompts and use the Easy Store as a back up as I did with my Windows machine? Thanks…
I am having the same issue. Was there any reply to this?
No, not that I am aware of.
WD Easystore has nothing to do with My Cloud or this subforum, it has no internet access. The problem with the macOS is that it doesn’t support write to Windows NTFS file system on the Easystore so any WD installer trying to fix this is sometimes confused by the file requirements. You need to reformat the Easystore or repartition it so that it is somewhat compatible with macOS (and Windows if you choose), such as using exFAT.
